I have a feeling that this grabbing of all congregations savings is a part of a plan B. Some kaind of financial harm reduction. Is it possible that we are going to see great changes in the bOrg when this year has passed? I don't think it is a coincidence that this money grabbing happened this year.

Do JW Apologists "Count the time" when they come here?
by tim hooper in..and if they do "count the time", do you think that they type very slowly?.

I don't believe that Troll theory.......JW's entering/posting here for the frst time are probably very scared. Maybe they post something just to try this boar out.....to se how they are treated.
And if an apologist comes here preaching, that's great. If we manage to treat him/her in a nice way and answer in a respectful manner, we will probably see a new apostate in some weeks. I think we have had 3 such cases last couple of months.

I dont think we should past judgement on people who post here for the first time
by smiddy injust saying , my 2 cents worth .
if they have an agenda it will be revealed in a short time , let them play it out .. however , some genuine first posters can be put off by somebody jumping the gun and attacking them .. please give the first posters time to get to know this site.. smiddy.

Some people act really stupid....do they wish to scare people back to the Kingdom Halls? I don't see tjhe reason being confrontative to a JW. It only activate the cognitive disonance and it confirms all prejudice of apostates.
For some reason they post here....maybe they have some doubts....so, why scaring them away being confrontative? Just answer their questions......remember, we know much more of the org than they do..........we don't need to fear being preached back into the org. So, just relax.

"I didn't think there must be "good apostates". Let's be honest with ourselves about this Borg. The people that are in and want to leave, leave because they are SICK of what's in that Borg."
"I really appreciated your wry sense of humour when you wrote in reference to the memorial gate crasher that he would be "Giving apostates a bad name quite frankly". Well, I nearly choked on my caviar with laughter when I read that statement. I mean, to a jw, an apostate could not have any more worse a name. To them the only way to improve your standing would be to die. "
Well, that's the official WT wiew of apostates. But, most JW's have family members that have bees DF'ed or DA'ed. In some cases, maybe a lot of cases some JW's have some regular contact with these people. Of course they will get another image of the so called apostates than the official one.
Furthermore, a lot of JW's will meet apostates at the web. It surprizes me that some people doesn't realize that their behavior towards these JWs can change ther wievs on apostates and wordly people. If a JW realizes that wordly people and apostates are friendly sophisticated people he/she could be more motivated seeking friendship outside and leave the organisation.
This crashing of the memorial just scares the doubting JWs back to the org....it's not productive.

Evolutionary psychology?
by Laika ini've read a little bit of work from the field of evolutionary psychology, but nearly all of this stuff comes across as pseudo-scientific bs to me.
much of this stuff just seems to me to be a case of preferring a particular human behaviour over another one, and then saying that this is what nature intended with a story about how it 'evolved'.
a lot of evolutionary psychologists also seem to use evolutionary psychology as cover for their misogyny or racism.. i think most of our behaviours are socialised rather than genetic.. i am hardly an expert here however so could, of course, be completely wrong.

If one accepts evolution, then one have to consider evolution of the brain as well as the function of the brain. Of course the brain and psychology have been subject to natural selection as well as other organs in our bodies.
Psychology is not only behavior, it is also cognition/emotion and other stuff .

All appointed men are being told they have to pioneer now!
by stuckinarut2 inyes, you read correctly..... all appointed men have been told in a new letter that they have to pioneer to "set the lead" whenever there is a "special" campaign month.
they use some scripture saying that these ones have to show by example.... so for any of us who are appointed and have learned ttatt, it is going to be very hard to fade during this time!.

Maybe a lot of appointed men will step down now.......lets make a guess...15-20 % of the appointed probably step down.....or at least wish to step down.

Theists, why does God allow suffering..
by The Quiet One in..specifically, the suffering of animals.
you can talk about free will/sin/people choosing to not listen to god etc to explain human suffering being allowed.. but how can you love a god that allows animals, that haven't sinned or chosen to not have anything to do with god, to have their short lives ended in often long, drawn out, painful ways.
i could list stories i've read that would probably make you feel ill, but i'm not looking to shock anyone or start an emotional debate.

But for a JW these questions might be of interest, since the JW dogma is that a "day" in genesis could be thousands or millions of years. JW's are not young earth creationists.
By the way, I think that earlier was one creation day in genesis said to be 7000 years, but that changed later.
I think DOTs reasoning could be a goo way of questioning literalists as the JWs...and it also is related to moral philosophy....Why did God punish even the animals for the sin of two humans.
